The Derafsh Kaviani was a legendary royal banner of ancient Iran, symbolizing unity and kingship.
It is described in the Shahnameh by Ferdowsi and later became an imperial standard during the Sasanian Empire (224–651 CE).
It was used in battles and royal ceremonies as a symbol of authority and national identity, and its origins are partly mythical but trace back to ancient times.
